The Santa Clara County coroner’s office determined Thursday that a 54-year-old San Jose man who died this week was murdered, a police spokesman said today.The man, Gilbert Flores, was taken unconscious to Regional Medical Center in San Jose on June 25, police Sgt. Ronnie Lopez said. The people who dropped him off said he had fallen and hit his head, according to Lopez. He was treated at the hospital but died Wednesday. After he died, Flores’ sister reported to police that his injuries could have been due to an assault, Lopez said. On Thursday, the coroner’s office told San Jose police that evidence revealed Flores was in fact murdered, according to Lopez.The San Jose Police Department’s homicide unit has taken over the investigation.
