Concord police shot and killed a suspect wanted on felony warrants after he exchanged gunfire with officers, according to police.Police responded to a disturbance call at about 6 p.m. and upon arrival recognized the suspect, who was wanted on the felony warrants, police said.Officers stopped the suspect, who initially complied with their instructions, near the intersection of Hillsborough Drive and Labrador Street, police said.The suspect then ran from police, and officers pursued him to a carport in the 3400 block of Hillsborough Drive.When officers confronted the suspect, he brandished a handgun and refused to drop it,according to police. The suspect exchanged gunfire with one of the officers and was hit, police said. He died at the scene. The officer was not injured. The suspect’s identity is not being released tonight pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.The officers involved in the shooting are being placed on routine paid administrative leave, the department said.
