* Audelio Martinez a Santa Rosa man gets nine years for rape of elderly women

A Santa Rosa man was sentenced in Sonoma County Superior Court Wednesday to nine years in prison in connection with the rape of a 75-year-old woman in September. Audelio Martinez, 36, was sentenced to eight years for the rape and one year for cruelty to a dependant adult. Judge Kenneth Gnoss also sentenced Martinez to a consecutive one-year term for assaulting his roommate with a gold club on March 12, 2008.Martinez is a distant relative of the rape victim and had previously rented a room in her Santa Rosa home, the Sonoma County District attorney’s Office said.  He entered her West Third Street home, physically picked her up, carried her to her bedroom and raped her on Sept. 17, the district attorney’s office said.Martinez also threatened the woman and said he would return, prosecutors said. The victim’s daughter reported the rape to Santa Rosa police. Martinez was arrested in the Santa Paula area on Sept. 27. Santa Paula police found him hiding in a bathroom of an acquaintance’s home, Santa Rosa police said.
