An 80-year-old woman who was found murdered inside her Hayward home late Sunday afternoon has been identified as Carolyn Pavon, a police sergeant said today.Pavon, who lived alone, had not been answering her phone so concerned family members went to her home at 25352 Spring Drive, where they found her body, police said. It appeared she had been shot, and an autopsy this morning confirmed she died of gunshot wounds, Sgt. Steve Brown said.No arrests have been made in the case, and investigators are working to determine a motive for the killing.Brown said Monday that burglary was one possible motive but that evidence at the scene seemed to point away from that.”There was plenty of cash and valuables that were left clearly in visible sight but weren’t taken,” he said.Police have been interviewing friends and family to get a better picture of the woman’s lifestyle and habits. Brown said the victim was a grandmother and a great-grandmother and has a number of family members in the area. The shooting is Hayward’s 11th homicide of 2010.
