A known gang member was arrested last night after allegedly making threats and stealing a baseball hat from an unsuspecting victim, a spokesman for the Concord Police Department said.At about 11 p.m. on Friday, a 20-year-old man was walking to his car from a large house party in the 1200 block of Evergreen Drive when a white Saturn with four passengers pulled up beside him, Lt. Steve Dyer said. The passengers then began verbally harassing the victim, and one of them stepped out of the vehicle wielding a baseball bat. He than began threatening to beat up the victim and demanded his baseball hat while another suspect in the car claimed to have a gun, Dyer said. The suspect with the bat then took the victim’s baseball hat, got back in the car and fled toward Virginia Lane.Dyer said officers investigating the robbery circulated a detailed description of the suspects and vehicle around 11:40 p.m., and were able to locate and stop the car soon afterwards in the 400 block of Monument Boulevard. The victim and witnesses then positively identified the vehicle and one of the suspects involved in the robbery.Police arrested 24-year-old Henry Alexander Castro-Mejia, of Concord, for armed robbery, brandishing a deadly weapon, and participating in a street gang, Dyer said.Although police were able to locate the bat, they have not been able to locate the baseball hat, he said. The car was impounded.
