Six suspects are being questioned in custody this morning in connection with a fatal shooting between two vehicles in Richmond late Friday, police said. Officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash in the 500 block of 12th Street at around 11 p.m., according to Richmond police. Arriving officers found two men in a car that had crashed into a light pole. The men had both been shot, police said. The driver was wounded in the upper torso and the passenger was shot in the lower-left leg. Both victims were taken to Kaiser Permanente-Richmond, where the driver later died from his injuries. The passenger was reported to be in serious condition. An investigation found that a shooting had taken place near 22nd Street and Bissell Avenue, where a white van pulled up alongside the victims’ vehicle and opened fire, police said. The victims were able to drive as far as the location where they crashed and were soon after found by police. Six occupants of the van were taken into police custody. One of the six is believed to have fired the fatal shots. The homicide is still under investigation.
