A suspect in a homicide and home invasion robbery was shot several times Thursday afternoon by an Antioch police officer attempting to take him into custody. Officers investigating the June 8 homicide and home invasion that took place on Aster Drive in Antioch went to the city of Fremont, where a confrontation with the suspect erupted, according to Antioch police. A preliminary report stated that during the confrontation, the suspect either armed himself with a gun or attempted to do so and was subsequently shot multiple times by an Antioch police officer. The suspect survived the shooting and was taken to a Fremont hospital to be treated in custody, police said. No officers were injured. The shooting is being investigated by the Antioch and Fremont police departments and the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. Further details will be released later today pending the ongoing
investigation, police said.
