A 17-year-old boy who was fatally shot in Oakland on Monday evening has been identified as Damon Williams, and another teen has been arrested in connection with his murder, a police spokesman said today. At about 5 p.m. Monday, police responded to the parking lot of the Eastmont Mall in the 2600 block of 73rd Avenue and found Williams suffering from a gunshot wound, police Officer Jeff Thomason said.He was taken by ambulance to Highland Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Thomason said.Investigators believe three men approached Williams while he was at the nearby Eastmont Transit Center. An argument ensued and one of the men shot Williams. The trio then fled, and Williams ran to the mall parking lot where he collapsed, according to Thomason.Shortly afterward, patrol officers detained 18-year-old Ricardo DePalm in connection with the shooting, and a witness identified him as the person responsible for the shooting, Thomason said.DePalm was arrested for the murder, and later made admissions to homicide investigators about his involvement in the shooting, Thomason said. The other two suspects remain outstanding, he said.
