Police have arrested the mother of the 2-year-old girl who was found crying on a street more than a mile from her southwest Petaluma home Sunday night.Anna Laura Rendon, 23, was booked into Sonoma County jail on a misdemeanor count of willful cruelty to a child and is being held on $15,000 bail. She is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning. The crying, barefoot girl, dressed in an orange tank top and pink skirt, was found by a resident at Kentucky and Oak streets at about 10:30 p.m., police said. She was later taken to the Valley of the Moon Children’s Home in Santa Rosa.Police have not said how the toddler got 1 1/4 miles from her home. Petaluma police Lt. Tim Lyons said police found the girl’s mother and her boyfriend at a Mountain View Avenue home at about 9:30 a.m. today after one of the girl’s relatives contacted police when she saw the girl’s picture in media reports. Rendon and her boyfriend were sleeping when police arrived. Rendon told the officers she did not realize her daughter was missing until they showed up, Lyons said.Rendon said she last saw her daughter sleeping on a couch between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., Lyons said. When she got up again later, the girl was not on the couch and Rendon said she assumed she had gone to another room in the house shared by other relatives, Lyons said this morning.Lyons also said this morning there is no indication there was a custody disagreement or other domestic issue involved in the girl’s disappearance.
