Authorities discovered a car with a dead body inside of it this morning at the base of an embankment along Skyline Boulevard in San Mateo County, a CHP spokesman said. At 9 a.m., a motorist who had stopped along the road on state Route 35 about a mile south of state Route 92, glimpsed a shiny object about 80 feet down the embankment next to the road and called authorities to report a possible abandoned vehicle, Redwood City CHP spokesman Art Montiel said. When authorities arrived at around 9:30 a.m., they found the body of a dead man in his 50s in the backseat of the car, Montiel said. There were no obvious signs of foul play, so authorities are handling the incident as a collision at this time, he said. The cause of death is still under investigation.
