A Cotati man was sentenced in Sonoma County Superior Court this week to three years in prison for possession of child pornography. James Grippe, 56, pleaded guilty in December 2009 to a felony charge of possession of child pornography, and misdemeanor charges of child annoyance and possession of marijuana for sale while armed with a handgun, according to the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors said a number of teens spent time at Grippe’s Cotati home in 2008. One 11-year-old boy told Cotati police he would sleep with Grippe in his bed. Another minor said Grippe pinned him down and rubbed his feet, according to the district attorney’s office. Another teen said he began selling marijuana for Grippe when he was 14 or 15 years old to repay money he owed Grippe.  The teen said Grippe kept a handgun under his pillow and another in his truck. He also said Grippe gave him massages and foot rubs, according to the district attorney’s office. The disclosures came after Cotati police began an investigation of a marijuana grow at Grippe’s home in July 2008. Police recovered a large amount of marijuana and U.S. currency, a handgun, a digital scale and a pay-owe ledger in Grippe’s home in September 2008, according to the district attorney’s office. A laptop in Grippe’s home had thousands of images of young boys who appeared to be under age 18 engaging in lewd or suggestive positions, according to the district attorney’s office. He was sentenced on the child pornography charge Monday by Judge Lawrence Antolini.
