Police have arrested a man on suspicion of committing at least two recent burglaries at churches in Santa Rosa and Petaluma.Charles Barlow, 33, was arrested Tuesday morning after he was found hiding in a closet in an apartment on Kashmir Drive in Santa Rosa, Sgt. Michael Lazzarini said. He was allegedly in possession of methamphetamaine and police found evidence in the apartment related to a March 23 burglary at St. John Lutheran Church on McNear Avenue in Petaluma, Lazzarini said.Barlow is also suspected in a burglary at St. Mark Lutheran Church on Mayette Avenue in Santa Rosa on June 8 and the burglary of a garage in the 4100 block of Shadow Lane in Santa Rosa on Monday, Lazzarini said. Eyewitnesses to the garage burglary identified Barlow as the suspect, Lazzarini said.Police searched a second apartment on Kashmir Drive and found evidence related to additional burglaries, Lazzarini said. There have been at least six church burglaries over the past several months, police said.Most of the items stolen in the church burglaries, including computer and electronics equipment, have not been recovered, Lazzarini said. Detectives are linking the recovered property to specific churches and Barlow could face charges related to those other burglaries, Lazzarini said.Barlow was booked into Sonoma County jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of stolen property. His bail is $75,000.
