* John La Pierre identified as San Bruno’s first homicide since 2008

A 20-year-old man who was fatally shot in San Bruno on Friday night was identified by the San Mateo County coroner’s office today as John La Pierre.La Pierre, a San Bruno resident, was gunned down in the 700 block of Sixth Avenue at about 11:40 p.m., San Bruno police Cmdr. Matt Campi said.He was transported to San Francisco General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Campi said La Pierre’s death is the city’s first homicide since 2008.No one has been arrested and police are “still in the preliminary stages” of the investigation, Campi said. He said authorities haven’t determined whether the shooting was gang-related, and urge anyone with information to call the Police Department at (650) 616-7100.
