Officials in the North Bay city of Cotati announced this week that Susan Jones has been appointed as interim police chief. Jones, who is retiring at the end of June as police chief in Healdsburg, will begin her tenure as interim chief in Cotati on July 12, city officials announced Thursday. Jones is replacing Robert Stewart, who retired recently. Her term is expected to last about six months, and she will assist with the recruitment of and transition to a new permanent chief, according to city officials. Jones served as police chief in Healdsburg for nine years. Mayor Robert Coleman said in a statement that Jones “brings with her years of experience and a commitment to what the citizens of Cotati value most in a police force: neighborhood policing.”
