A 34-year-old man was fatally shot by police officers in Fremont after he confronted them with a knife when they responded to a report of a domestic violence incident at an apartment early this morning, a police sergeant said.At about 2:30 a.m., police responded to a domestic violence incident at the Camden Village apartment complex, located at 38000 Camden St., Fremont police Sgt. Dan O’Connell said.The man, who has not been identified by police, had apparently barricaded himself inside the apartment with his estranged wife and three small children, and had injured and was threatening to kill the estranged wife, O’Connell said.Arriving officers tried to make contact with the suspect. They did not get a response, but heard an argument inside. The officers forced entry into the apartment and were confronted by the suspect, who was armed with a knife, according to O’Connell.The man was shot and killed by the officers, O’Connell said.The woman had suffered minor injuries, while the three children were uninjured, he said.The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into the incident.
