* Shootings in Oakland and Emeryville Leave One Dead and One Wounded

Oakland Police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another injured near Emeryville Tuesday evening. Units responded to reports of numerous shots fired in the 4400 block of Shellmound Street at around 7:35 p.m., police said. Arriving officers reported finding several bullet shell casings in a parking lot in the area. Officers quickly located a man who had been shot several times in the 3700 block of Wood Street. Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene, police said. A second shooting victim was found wounded in the 1500 block of 40th Street in Emeryville and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. No arrests were made and suspect information was not immediately available.
