A man who threatened his wife with a gun during a domestic dispute early this morning apparently shot himself under a highway overpass while police were searching for him, Concord police Lt. Jim Lardieri said today.Police were called to a home on Hillsborough Court at about 1 a.m. on a report of a domestic disturbance.A 35-year-old man and his wife had gotten into an argument. At some point during the argument, the man, later identified by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office as Mauro Barralaga, got a gun and threatened his wife with it, police said. He also threatened to kill himself, Lardieri said.Barralaga fled the house before police arrived. The wife was not injured, police said. Officers searched the area and eventually found Barralaga dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in some thick underbrush beneath the state Highway 242 overcrossing at Olivera Road, Lardieri said.
