A Santa Rosa man faces a nine-year prison term for setting a homeless man on fire in January, the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office said this afternoon. A Sonoma County Superior Court jury convicted Everett Lee Lincoln, 39, of arson on Friday, District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua said. A sentencing date will be set Wednesday.Lincoln and two homeless men, Stephen Prophet, 49, and Timothy Whisman, 47, were drinking alcohol in Finley Park in west Santa Rosa on Jan. 30 when Lincoln started slashing Whisman with a knife, Passalacqua said. Lincoln then sprayed Whisman with lighter fluid and lit him on fire, Passalacqua said. Whisman suffered second-degree burns on his legs. Santa Rosa police arrested Prophet and Lincoln that night.Prophet pleaded guilty to felony assault and testified against Lincoln at his trial, Passalacqua said.
