A 40-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly pointed a gun at officers and then fired a shot inside his Fairfield home Sunday afternoon, according to police.Officers responded to a home in the 900 block of Hickory Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. to reports of a disturbance and a person threatening suicide, police said.The officers found two adults standing in the driveway outside the home, but quickly saw their father Brian Fitch come to the window and a point a handgun at the officers, according to police.The officers took cover, then surrounded the home and blocked off nearby streets, police said.Soon after, Fitch’s wife called 911 and told dispatchers she was locked in an upstairs bedroom with a rifle for protection, according to police. Officers contacted Fitch, and he allowed his wife to leave the house to the safety of the officers. Fitch came out of the house shortly after and was arrested, police said.It turned out Fitch had gotten into an argument with his adult son, who said he wanted to move in with his grandmother, according to police.Fitch fired a shot inside the home while his wife was on the phone with dispatchers. Police do not know whether Fitch was aiming at anyone, but no one was injured.Fitch was arrested on suspicion of brandishing a firearm at officers, negligent discharge of a firearm and possession of methamphetamine. He was booked into Solano County jail.
