* Michael “Mickey” Ray Welch Shot and Killed by Pinole Police During Confrontation

Pinole police shot and killed a 20-year-old man this afternoon after he became involved in a confrontation with officers. Michael “Mickey” Ray Welch was shot at 2:48 p.m. near the corner of Pinole Valley Road and Brandt Street, police said. Police had initially reported the suspect was a teenager. Officers had tried to make contact with him, and a confrontation ensued, police said.  He was pronounced dead by the Pinole Fire Department.

  • I love the arm-chair liberals who always say the cops over-react. Let’s see…there was a shooting…they think he’s the suspect…they tell him repeatedly to get his hands up…yet he reaches into his waistband for – a phone?

    What a stupid idiot! Too bad he reproduced before Darwin’s magic got rid of him.

    If you were a cop, you’d actually wait to see what this poophead is pulling out from his pants? You’re as dumb as Ray was, only with an added dash of deluded superiority, condescension, hypocrisy and complete inability to put yourself in the cop’s shoes – so you have no empathy. Well, you have empathy for the scumbag, but not the cops – nice!

  • I think strongly the pinole police over reacted with lethal force taking a young mans life away. He was also a father. I also think that if it was a law inforcement child that this happend to they would also relize they over reacted taking a human life. So many other ways to handle situations without lethal force..
