Police are searching for a man and woman who stole hundreds of dollars from a South San Francisco man on Monday in a driveway-repair scam. Officers responded to a report of a robbery at about 1:30 p.m. at a home in the 100 block of Camaritas Avenue. A man told investigators he was approached outside his home by a middle-aged man who said he had finished some concrete work in the neighborhood and had leftover materials. The stranger offered to fix the victim’s driveway for $100. The victim accepted and said the man and a 50-year-old woman accompanying him were at his home for about two hours, after which they demanded $400 from the victim for the repair job, police said. Again, the victim agreed and went into his bedroom to get more money. As he was talking to the male suspect, the woman snuck into the victim’s bedroom and stole another $400.
The victim realized he had been robbed after the pair had left. He told police they were driving a dark-colored Ford Ranger pickup.
