A man whose body was found in a field along state Highway 4 in Pittsburg on Monday has been identified as 33-year-old Richmond resident Jonathan Childs, according to the Contra Costa County coroner’s office. Childs’ body was found in a field adjacent to eastbound Highway 4, west of Railroad Avenue, at about 10:45 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Tom Maguire said. Investigators believe Childs was killed in a solo-vehicle crash Saturday night. After the crash, the CHP conducted an extensive search of the area, both on the ground and with a helicopter, but didn’t find the victim. An autopsy was under way this morning to determine a cause of death, according to the coroner’s office.
