Three people were arrested after allegedly robbing a Shell gas station of cigarettes early Sunday morning in Walnut Creek, according to police.At about 1:55 a.m., a police officer was on patrol when he saw an attendant at the gas station, located at 2900 N. Main St., involved in a struggle with two people in the station’s food mart.The officer approached and detained the two suspects, as well as two others who were with them, police said.The suspects allegedly stole several cartons of cigarettes and returned to the store to take more when the attendant tried to stop them, according to police.The employee was assaulted by two of the suspects while another stole the cigarettes, police said. It was at this time that the police officer saw the events unfolding and detained the three, as well as a fourth person who was later determined to not be involved in the crime and was released at the scene.The attendant was not injured during the robbery.Ivan Nesby, 32, Ethel Hands, 25, and a 17-year-old boy were arrested. All three are Oakland residents, according to police.Nesby and Hands were booked into county jail in Martinez while the boy was booked into juvenile hall, police said.
