An 18-year-old man was hospitalized after what appears to be a gang-related shooting outside an apartment complex in Salinas this afternoon, police said. The shooting was reported at about 2:40 p.m. in the 1900 block of Dartmouth Way, according to police. The victim was apparently driving out of the parking lot at the apartment complex when he slowed for two male suspects who were standing near the lot’s entrance, police said. The victim drove past the two suspects, who shot at the vehicle with handguns, striking the car and the victim. The vehicle came to a stop across the street from the parking lot, and the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body, according to police. The victim was airlifted to a local hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, police said. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, which investigators believe is gang-related.
