A male victim was injured after being struck in the head with a gun in San Mateo this afternoon, a police sergeant said. The assault was reported at about 2:40 p.m. in the 1000 block of Norton Street, San Mateo police Sgt. Bob Szelenyi said. The victim was transported to an area hospital and is expected to survive, according to Szelenyi. He said he didn’t know whether the gun used in the assault had fired, or how many people were involved in the assault. No one has been arrested and the incident remains under investigation.
