State parole agents have arrested one of three parolees in connection with the kidnapping, robbery and shooting of a Benicia man on May 4.Benjamin Taft, 33, was arrested in a room at the Ramada Inn on Summersville Road in Antioch around 3:45 p.m. Monday, Benicia police Lt. Taft was taken into custody without incident and was in possession of an AK47 assault rifle, an automatic shotgun and a handgun when he was arrested Daley said. Additional weapons charges will be filed against Taft, Daley said.Police are still searching for the other two parolees.”We want the other two suspects in this case, which include the alleged shooter, to turn themselves in peacefully,” Daley said. “Ultimately they will be arrested and the sooner they cooperate the better.”Larry Short, 22, who has ties to the Vacaville area, is suspected of shooting the unidentified 34-year-old Benicia man in the shoulder in his home in the 100 block of El Bonito Way around 2:30 a.m. May 4, Daley said.Short is wanted on a $1.5 million warrant for attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery and a no-bail parole violation, Daley said. The shooting incident began around 1 a.m. May 4 when the Benicia man visited friends in the 200 block of Woodrow Avenue in Vallejo, police said.Taft, 33, and Marques Agee, 31, both of Vallejo, also arrived coincidentally at the Vallejo home to confront a Vallejo man about problems Agee was having with a late 1990s Cadillac Agee bought from the Vallejo man, Daley said.Taft and Agee demanded money from the Benicia man when they were told he sold the Cadillac to the Vallejo man, police said. Taft and Agee held the Benicia man at gunpoint until Short, armed with a handgun, arrived at the Vallejo home, Daley said.Taft and Agee remained at the Vallejo residence with the Benicia man’s truck while Short drove the Benicia man to his El Bonito Way residence. Short told the Benicia man to turn over his cash, credit cards and other valuables, Daley said. The Benicia man shut a bedroom door and Short fired his handgun through the door, hitting the Benicia man in the left shoulder, Daley said. Short then fled the residence. The Benicia man’s truck was stolen from the Vallejo residence and Vallejo police found it in the McDonald’s restaurant parking lot near Interstate Highway 80 and Georgia Street, Daley said.Agee is wanted on a $750,000 arrest warrant for kidnapping and robbery, for counterfeiting in Santa Clara County and for parole violations, Daley said.
