The body of a Fairfax woman who was reported missing Friday was found this morning at the rear of a houseboat in the Clipper Yacht Harbor, Sausalito police said.Mary Elizabeth Beckman’s body was found at 10:30 a.m. by Sausalito police detective Brandon Rogers, who was searching the harbor for clues to her disappearance, Lt. Kurtis Skoog said.Beckman, 41, was found in the low-tide mud at the rear of a houseboat at 62 Varda Landing, Skoog said.She was wearing clothing and there were no obvious signs of foul play, Skoog said. Her 1996 Ford Explorer was found at 10 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Bank of Marin at 3 Harbor Drive in Sausalito, Skoog said. Rebecca Cross, 29, of Fairfax, said her best friend’s death “came as a total surprise.”She described Beckman as a very independent singer/songwriter with an incredible voice who liked to go hiking with her guitar.”She was so loving and generous, absolutely beautiful and angelic,” Cross said.Beckman lived in the Bay Area the past 10 to 12 years and was to perform a concert at a San Francisco residence Saturday night, Cross said.She said she frequented the harbor area and often went sailing with friends. Beckman was not married and had no children, Cross said.An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, Skoog said.
