* Home invasion robbery near San Francisco State University man later admits shooting himself

A man reported being shot Sunday evening during a home invasion robbery near San Francisco State University, but later told police that he had shot himself and no robbery had occurred, a police spokesman said.At about 6 p.m., police responded to the report of the shooting and home invasion robbery in the 100 block of Tapia Drive, San Francisco police Officer Samson Chan said. Investigators soon determined that there was no merit to the report of the home invasion, and the man said he shot himself, Chan said.Chan did not know if the man accidentally or purposefully shot himself.The man was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not
life-threatening.Chan said it was possible the man could face charges related to the incident, which remains under investigation, he said.
