A 50-year-old man who was fatally shot in the head while working in his garage in East Palo Alto Friday night has been identified by the San Mateo County coroner’s office as Parma Maharaj. Officers went to the 200 block of Gardenia Way when the Shot Spotter alert system registered gunfire in the area just before 10 p.m., police said. Arriving officers found Maharaj, an East Palo Alto resident, lying on the ground of an open garage at a home on the block. He had been shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. A preliminary investigation indicated Maharaj was working in his
garage when a suspect in dark clothing walked in and fired a handgun, striking the victim in the head. The suspected gunman was last seen running from the garage south on Gardenia Way. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
