* Castroville Gas Station Robbed at Gunpoint

A 76 gas station in unincorporated Castroville was robbed Friday evening, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. The robbery was reported shortly before 5:30 p.m. at the gas station located at 11400 Merritt St., according to the sheriff’s office. The suspect allegedly purchased two items with cash at the gas station before pointing a black semi-automatic handgun at a female employee when the cash drawer was open, according to the sheriff’s office. The suspect reached over and grabbed money from the register and told the employee to walk to the back of the store. He then ran out and got into a black Honda two-door vehicle that was last seen traveling east on state Highway 183, according to the sheriff’s office. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man between 30 and 40 years old who was clean shaven and wearing a light blue baseball cap with a white design on the front. The bill of the hat was slightly torn on the rim.
