Hayward police late Wednesday released the names of two teenagers shot and killed in the city early Sunday. Rafael Avila, 18, had been shot multiple times when police responded to the 21600 block of Westpark Street and found him laying next to a vehicle at around 1:05 a.m., according to police. Avila was pronounced dead at the scene.Carlos Buenrostro, also 18, was found by responding officers laying on the sidewalk at the same location. Buenrostro had also suffered several gunshot wounds, but was able to briefly speak with police before he was taken to Eden Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.Both young men were residents of Hayward.A 17-year-old girl and a 21-year-old man were arrested the morning of the shooting, allegedly hiding in different locations after fleeing police by car and then on foot into Oakland.Investigators are still trying to determine a clear motive for the killings.Anyone who might have information that would assist the ongoing investigation is urged to call Hayward police Inspector Kendell Won at (510) 293-7113 or Detective John Racette at (510) 293-7031.
