* Dangerous pit bull stolen from the Alameda Animal Shelter at 1590 Fortmann Way

A dangerous pit bull that was scheduled to be euthanized was stolen from the Alameda Animal Shelter this morning, Alameda police said.The 3-year-old dog, named “Max,” was taken at about 7:20 a.m. from the shelter at 1590 Fortmann Way, police said.The suspect cut through a cyclone fence to access the shelter, and used bolt cutters to cut the lock off a kennel to remove the dog.The animal had been deemed dangerous by the Alameda County Superior Court after the dog was involved in two separate biting incidents in January and March, and was supposed to be euthanized this afternoon, police said. Anyone with information about the dog or the burglary is asked to call the Alameda Police Department at (510) 337-8599.
