Vandals slashed the tires of about 20 cars in Pleasant Hill over the weekend and so far police haven’t been able to find any witnesses, Pleasant Hill police Sgt. Gary Brown said today. The vehicles were vandalized sometime between 8 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday in the area of Santa Monica Drive, Longbrook Way, Rock Creek Way and Starbridge Court, Brown said.It appears the vehicles were targeted at random, and the tires were slashed on the driver’s side, passenger side or both.”There was no rhyme or reason to how it was done,” he said.In most cases the sidewalls were cut, which means the tires will have to be replaced instead of repaired, he said.Brown estimated the damage to the vehicles at about $4,000 to $5,000. “It looks like kids being bored,” Brown said. “But I hope they realize how much damage they’ve caused cost-wise.”Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Pleasant Hill police at (925) 288-4600.
