* Anthony Rossby arrested after he allegedly shoplifted $3,000 of merchandise from a Fry’s Electronics store in Campbell then ran from police

A man was arrested this afternoon after he allegedly shoplifted $3,000 of merchandise from a Fry’s Electronics store in Campbell and then caused an injury crash as he attempted to flee from officers, police said.Officers responded to the store at the corner of Hamilton and Salmar avenues at about 3:10 p.m. after being alerted of a shoplifter. As they arrived, the suspect fled in a vehicle and crossed over a raised center median as he tried to evade authorities, police said.He ran a red light at the intersection of Hamilton Avenue and Almarida Drive, where he collided with a sport utility vehicle carrying a woman and two children. The three occupants of the SUV sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.The suspect then ran from the collision into an office building on Salmar Avenue. Officers surrounded the building and located the suspect, identified by police as 40-year-old San Jose resident Anthony Rossby, inside.Rossby allegedly charged at an officer who used his Taser to detain him, police said. Rossby was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and was medically cleared before being booked into Santa Clara County jail on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges,according to police.Police recovered an estimated $3,000 of property taken from the electronics store.
