Four men believed to have been involved in a shooting in East Palo Alto early Monday were arrested after a police chase and search that involved more than 30 officers and five K-9 units.East Palo Alto’s ShotSpotter gunshot detection system registered shots fired in the 1900 block of Pulgas Avenue at about 1:15 a.m. Monday, police said.Responding officers didn’t find anyone who had been hit by gunfire, but witnesses described a vehicle involved in the shooting as a gold or silver Dodge Durango, police said.Several minutes later, a Menlo Park police officer noticed a sport utility vehicle matching that description traveling east on University Avenue at U.S. Highway 101.The officer tried to pull the car over but it didn’t stop and continued onto northbound Highway 101, police said.Officers followed the SUV until it exited the highway at Marsh Road and wound up on a dead end in the Bohannon Industrial Park in Menlo Park. The car stopped and all four occupants fled on foot in different directions.More than 30 police officers from Menlo Park, Redwood City, San Mateo County, San Carlos, Atherton, East Palo Alto and the California Highway Patrol participated in the search. Over a two-hour period all four men, ages 21 through 23, were located and arrested, police said. The gun used in the shooting was not found.
