San Carlos police arrested a suspected bicycle thief on Tuesday after a search that involved officers from multiple agencies.
Police said a bicycle worth $500 was reported stolen from an underground storage area in the 500 block of Elm Street on Monday. Investigators discovered that the bicycle was being sold on Craigslist, contacted the seller, and arranged to purchase it. When officers met with the suspect, 38-year-old Nicholas Rodriguez, of Belmont, he dropped the bike and fled. At 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers spotted Rodriguez in the 1000 block of Hall Street. He fled again but police found him hiding under a house
nearby after a search that involved officers from the Belmont, Redwood City, and San Carlos police departments. Rodriguez suffered minor injuries while being taken into custody, police said. He was treated at the scene, and later booked into San Mateo County jail on charges of burglary, possession of stolen property, and resisting arrest.
