Police today identified Marcelino Cardenas as the 75-year-old man who died Sunday after being attacked with a baseball bat during a home invasion robbery in Gilroy earlier this month.The attack was reported at about 10:15 p.m. on April 13 at a home in the 1000 block of Montebello Drive.Police found Cardenas lying on a couch in the home’s living room with severe head injuries. A second victim, a 46-year-old man, was lying in the kitchen area with major injuries to his legs, police Sgt. Jim Gillio said.Cardenas died Sunday morning. The second victim’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.The suspect or suspects in the attack spoke in Spanish and used a baseball bat to hit the victims, Gillio said. No arrests have been made in the case.The homicide is Gilroy’s first in 2010.
