The owner of a corner market in Pittsburg was shot multiple times Monday night during what appears to have been an attempted robbery, Pittsburg police Lt. Brian Addington said today. Shortly before 10 p.m., two men entered La Aurora Market at 290 W. 10th St. One of the men had a handgun, Addington said. The pair apparently attempted to rob the storeowner, who was working as a clerk that night, but ended up shooting him. The suspects then fled and were last seen heading north on West Street. The storeowner was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where he underwent surgery. He is expected to survive, Addington said. The suspects were described only as black men in their early 20s. Both were about 6 feet tall and had slender builds. Police were working today to access footage from the store’s surveillance cameras. Two customers and an employee who were in the store when the shooting happened were not injured. The customers witnessed the shooting, but
the employee was in the back when it happened and didn’t see anything, Addington said.
