Berkeley police have arrested a cab driver on suspicion of kidnapping, false imprisonment and two counts of sexual battery for the alleged mistreatment of female passengers in January 2008 and April 2010.Police said Ali Al Obadi, 29, of Oakland, asked numerous women fares to sit in the front seat of his cab. He then allegedly forcibly held their hands and proceeded to fondle their breasts. One victim reported that Obadi drove in the opposite direction of her home, police said. When she repeatedly demanded Obadi to get on course, he drove the cab back to Berkeley and then allegedly groped her breasts, forced the woman to touch his crotch and put his finger down her pants, according to police. This month, Obadi allegedly picked up and sexually battered a woman in his yellow minivan-style cab. Victims said the cab had a black star on the door and a string of white beads hung from the rearview mirror.
