* Socorro Reyes Zamudio Santa Rosa transient pleads guilty to raping disabled women

A Santa Rosa-area transient has pleaded guilty to raping a 55-year-old developmentally disabled woman in her Roseland home last month, according to the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office.Socorro Reyes Zamudio, 32, will be sentenced May 14 for forcible rape and rape of an incompetent person unable to give consent, Sonoma County District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua said Monday. He pleaded guilty to both charges on Thursday. Zamudio is an acquaintance of the victim’s mother, who gave him permission to stay in her home for a few days in March, Passalacqua said. The mother awoke early the morning of March 11 to her daughter yelling for her, and learned her daughter had been assaulted.Zamudio fled but was arrested by Santa Rosa police around 9 a.m.The victim suffered numerous injuries during the assault, Passalacqua said.
