A driver who was shot by a San Francisco police officer last week after allegedly striking several cars and then driving at the officer is now facing assault and drug charges.Sarah Thompson, 36, of Sacramento, was arraigned on the charges Friday in San Francisco Superior Court, according to the district attorney’s office.Police said that at about 5 p.m. on April 12, Thompson was driving erratically down Folsom Street in the South of Market neighborhood and hit other moving cars as she approached Langton Street.A responding plainclothes officer was standing in the area when Thompson allegedly drove at him, prompting him to fire at her in self-defense,police said.Police said the officer’s police star was visible on his outer clothing.Thompson was reportedly struck once in the shoulder by the gunfire and hospitalized. In court on Friday, Thompson, also known as Sarah Negri, pleaded not guilty to one count of assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon, three counts of assault with a deadly weapon for three other drivers, and one count of evading police, according to district attorney’s office spokesman Brian Buckelew.Thompson also pleaded not guilty to transportation of methamphetamine and transportation of crack cocaine.She is being held on $500,000 bail and is due back in court April 30, Buckelew said.
