Newark police are hoping a sketch released this evening will help investigators track down the man who attacked a teenage a girl early this morning and then shot at a motorist who followed him as he fled.A 15-year-old girl was walking near Parkshore and Edgewater drives, toward Cedar Boulevard, at about 6:40 a.m. when a man came up and grabbed her from behind, knocking her to the ground, police said.The teen kicked and screamed, and was able to break free from the man, who walked away down Parkshore Drive, according to police. The girl’s screams caught the attention of a passing bicyclist. The bicyclist alerted a motorist, who followed the attacker down Parkshore Drive until the suspect turned around and fired three shots from a handgun toward the driver, police said.No one was hit by the bullets. The incident prompted a brief lockdown of Newark Unified School District schools. Superintendent Kevin E. Harrigan issued the precautionary lockdown at about 8:30 a.m. and it was lifted at about 9 a.m.The suspect was last seen headed north on Parkshore Drive. He is described as a black man in his late teens to early 20s, 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a medium build.
