A fingerprint on a demand note led to the Tuesday arrest of a man in Ohio suspected of robbing a Novato bank in 2007, police said today. The man who robbed the Wells Fargo bank inside the Safeway at 900 Diablo Ave. on Oct. 25, 2007, left behind the demand note and some clothing, Sgt. Keith Heiden said. Last month, Marin County sheriff’s Sgt. Sandra Scott analyzed a fingerprint recovered from the demand note and matched it to Thomas John Clagett, a former Marin County resident living in Warren, Ohio, Heiden said. Novato police detective Kory Jones obtained a $250,000 warrant for Clagett’s arrest and arranged for the FBI to arrest him, Heiden said. Clagett was taken into custody Tuesday and he will be transported to Marin County next week, Heiden said. Clagett is currently being held in the Trumbull County jail in Warren, Ohio, Heiden said.

  • Good Job Sandra!

Bet this perp woke up to a “bad day” – almost 3 years later.

    Keep up the good work.
