A man was critically injured in a stabbing in Vacaville late Thursday night, police said today. Two men were walking near the Georgie Duke Sports Center at 720 E. Monte Vista Ave. around 11 p.m. when three men approached them and asked their gang affiliation, according to police. When the men said they were not gang members, the suspects demanded their property, police said. The men refused and a verbal argument led to a physical confrontation with the suspects, Vacaville spokesman Mark Mazzaferro said. The two men ran across the street toward the Lucky’s supermarket to escape their attackers. One of the two men realized he had been stabbed, and tried to walk back to his house but collapsed near the front of the store, Mazzaferro said. The Vacaville police and fire departments responded and the stabbing victim was taken to the UC Davis Trauma Center in Sacramento, where he was listed in critical condition. The suspects are Hispanic males, 17-19 years old, approximately 5 feet 5 inches with medium builds, Mazzaferro said. Anyone with information is asked to call Vacaville police at (707) 449-5200.
