Human remains were discovered today in the same area where a Cadillac belonging to a missing San Jose woman was found this morning, a police spokesman said. A work crew found a white 2001 Cadillac STS covered in brush at about 7:45 a.m. off of state Highway 9 in the Santa Cruz Mountains in unincorporated Santa Clara County. The car belonged to 83-year-old Ann Marie Vlahovich, who was reported missing by a neighbor on Feb. 2, San Jose police spokesman Dirk Parsons said.  The California Highway Patrol and San Jose police are investigating the vehicle as well as human remains discovered near the car.
Parsons said a forensic examination is necessary to confirm the identification of the remains. Members of the work crew discovered the Cadillac as they were descending the hill, Parsons said. The car was hidden by brush and couldn’t be seen from the side of the roadway.  The car was covered in dirt and appeared to have been there for some time, Parsons said. The roof and sides were damaged, he said. There is no indication of foul play, and the CHP is investigating how the car ended up there, Parsons said.Vlahovich, who lives in the 800 block of Kingfisher Drive, was last seen by a neighbor on Jan. 20. On March 21, police and a county search-and-rescue team renewed the search for her, scouring parts of San Jose by ground and helicopter.
