Police in Sunnyvale are investigating the death of a man whose body was found inside a burning car Wednesday afternoon. Residents of an apartment complex at 874 Borregas Ave. called police at 3:27 p.m. to report that a four-door Chevrolet parked outside was on fire, Capt. David Verbrugge said. Firefighters and Department of Public Safety officers responded to find the interior of the car on fire and the body of a man sitting upright in the driver’s seat, Verbrugge said. The body was “charred pretty badly,” Verbrugge said. He said the cause of the fire is under investigation and that police are investigating the case as an unattended death. An autopsy is being performed this morning.
