The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a carjacking that occurred this evening outside a restaurant in unincorporated Crockett, a sheriff’s lieutenant said. The carjacking occurred at about 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of  The Dead Fish, a restaurant located at 20500 San Pablo Ave. near an off-ramp from Interstate Highway 80, sheriff’s Lt. Steve Simpkins said. A man driving a 2007 silver Toyota Tacoma pulled into the parking lot to get directions because he was lost, and a man approached the vehicle, Simpkins said. “He asked for directions and got a gun instead,” he said. The suspect took out a gun and fired a shot. No one was hit, but investigators found a shell casing at the scene, according to Simpkins. The suspect took the truck, which has reggae-themed bumper stickers, and fled from the area. The victim was not injured in the carjacking. The suspect is described as a black man who is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a tan jacket and tan hat, Simpkins said.
