* Carlton Ross identified as concord man possibly shot to death by Claude Lee Mitchell

A man who was shot to death Thursday afternoon in Concord has been identified as 48-year-old Concord resident Carlton Ross, according to the Contra Costa County coroner’s office. The shooting was reported at 3:20 p.m. at complex in the 4800 block of Clayton Road. Officers arrived to find Ross in a stairwell. He was pronounced dead at the complex.Police said Ross lived in the apartment complex.Witnesses identified the shooter as 25-year-old Claude Lee Mitchell, who also lives at the complex, possibly in the same apartment as Ross, police said.Mitchell is described as being a black man, 6 feet 1 inch tall and 155 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He is believed to be driving a four-door 1991 Infiniti Q45 with California license plate No. 6HMH102. The car is black and may have damage to the hood and fender area.He may be accompanied by a black woman about 5 feet 5 inches tall with a thin build. Investigators believe the woman may have witnessed the shooting and would like to speak with her.Mitchell should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
