Menlo Park police Chief Bruce Goitia will retire after 28 years with the Police Department effective June 1, city manager Glen Rojas announced today. Goitia, who has master’s in public administration from Notre Dame de Namur University, began working at the Menlo Park Police Department in 1982 as a records clerk, according to Rogas. He has since served as a police officer, a traffic officer, a traffic sergeant, a detective sergeant and a commander before becoming police chief in 2006, Rojas said. A national search for Goitia’s replacement is under way, and applications will be accepted through April 23.
