A San Jose transient has been charged with voluntary manslaughter in connection with the fatal stabbing of another transient in a homeless encampment behind a radio station on Monday. Miguel Garcia, 53, who has been charged with one count of voluntary manslaughter, also faces an enhancement for use of a knife during the commission of a crime, district attorney’s spokeswoman Amy Cornell said. If convicted, Garcia faces 12 years in prison. San Jose police arrested Garcia late Tuesday night at an undisclosed location in San Jose on suspicion of stabbing another man shortly before 1 a.m. Monday behind AM radio station KSJX, located at 501 Wooster Ave. Police said the stabbing occurred in the midst of a physical fight between the men. The nature of their relationship has not been determined, according to police. The 46-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene and his name is being withheld pending notification of his family. The motive for the killing is remains investigation. The stabbing was the city’s sixth homicide of the year, police said.
